Peace be upon you and merci and blessings,
In start, I supplicate to Allah the Mighty in thanks and gratitude for a successful academic year and we welcome the New Year with all hope of progress, prosperity and achievements under the wise leadership of his majesty The Sultan may Allah protect him.
I would like to maintain the momentum to congratulate my dear sons and daughters who managed to step forward to their new classes successfully and likewise their attentive teachers and parents for their fruitful efforts. I also extend my appreciation to private sector and public and civil institutions for their earnest efforts to support the ministry to pursue its declared objectives and realized ambitions.
Dear brothers and sisters:
The ministry has picked upa broad and honorable fame as it is considered as think tank by many regional and international establishments;a bear fruit of the sincere efforts of the teachers in the field throughout the blessed past four decades of the country’s renaissances.
Dear teachers:
We are brimming over with bride as more than six thousand fresher teachers enroll intoworkforce at schools this year. Thereupon we call upon them first and foremost to put on all effort and tenacity they have in their assignment and to compile with theharmonious education mosaic throughout the last four decades.
We expect them to carry out their daunting task bravely and to teach their pupils in the best ways in order to get highestlearning avails needed to build a world of knowledge and science.This goal is to be achieved by consistent development of their skills andprofessional knowledge.
The ministry and the community also expect them to abide to the orientations and ethics of teaching profession and to be proactive headthat possesses the initiative to improve teaching and apply proper conduction traits dovetail tomodern civilization;without prejudice inherent Omani customs and culture privacy.
Dear education bodies:
The ministry has always forged bonds with various community segments in order to build genuine partnerships; a sincere endeavor to incorporate the education bodies in developing education in the country.
The annual conferences and forums held by the ministry acts as a channel for communication with you. The ministry is pending for your constructive feedback to address education matters to overhaul its plans; so we urge you to take part in such events attentively hopingto come out with realistic and scientific results.
Correspondingly , the Ministry of Education has participated last year in the global competitiveness survey (PEARLS) & (THAMES) which aims to reveal pupils’ real capabilities in Mathematics, Science and Arabic language ; a study designated to work out updated indications of pupils’ competence in co-relation to curriculum and teaching methods and hoping to provoke basal progressive approach .
Dear brothers and sisters:
We know as a fact that entrepreneurship is a dynamic process by its nature, thus the Ministry of Education undertook corrective measures towards scrutinizing the current curricula in order to develop it according to the latest basis and criteria. For this reason, a recession came into effect tocovers stakeholders’ competences and responsibilities; markedly pupils, teachers and evaluation methods.
Dear mothers and fathers:
It’s clear and obvious for us that all efforts exerted to bring bright kids at schools can only pull off results if family members scaffold their children by following up their learning process. As a rule, proper home support and comfortable home conditions is a functional prerequisite for sound learning to take place. We count on you tosow code of practice and ethics in their hearts and put them up to reach for the top of their academic performance.
The ministry’s chief concern to prolong and spin out school days can last and strive if we receive teachers and parents support. For this purpose ,we plea to you to side to us and stand for it as the best education systems in the world depends on the actual learning hours; be into maintaining learning days and be in attendance to schools timing andkeep up enthusiastic turnout for school days.
Dear students:
Be proud of the prosperous and remarkable achievements of your beloved country and enjoy all available resourceful and rich learning environments. You should make use ofthe galore opportunities and above all exert faithful efforts to develop oneself to be the best and exploit all technological skills in learning and develop your skills as a self-directed learner.
What we see clearly on the groundare ambitious Omani young, able to meet the obligations of the concurrent timeschallenges;and it is for us to say with pride that the Omani youth is able to achieve what he aspires to, and worthy of what came to him, be the flame of vigor and beenergetic and full of renewed vigour.
Dear brothers and sisters:
At the end I would like to quote the Sultans dictum which affirms his apprehension of education development in the country in address to 33rd session on UNISCO sixtieth anniversary as he said “we devote great care and attention to the development and reform of education in Oman. Our aims include the raising of standers and updating the curriculum to make it richer and more relevant to the needs of ever changing world.
These efforts the importance the sultanate assigns to the development of its human resources, to the fostering of scientific and technological understanding and the creation of educated population who can make positive contribution to the development process by dealing confidently with change and new developments”
Finally, I wish you all a successful year overflowing with enthusiasm andI supplicate to Allah the Mighty to help us all to serve this country under the wise leadership of the builder of renaissance His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
