Given the importance of the mobilization of accurate and truthful
statistical data reflect the situation in the Sultanate and the need to build a
common understanding mechanisms and methods used to collect statistical data;
The Secretariat General of the Omani National Committee for Education, Science
and Culture in collaboration with the UNESCO Office in Doha, to hold a training
workshop in the field of statistics from 13 to 15 February 2010 in Knowledge
Oasis Muscat - involving a number of concerned officials and specialists in the
field of statistics in government entities in Oman, delivered by the Statistical
Office of the UNESCO consultant in Doha.
Goals:
1. Training on how to deal with the collected data.
2. Standardization of terminology in the Sultanate in the areas of statistical
work to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics.
3. Matching international statistical terminology with the terminology used in
the Sultanate.
4. Training to deal with the international system (ISCED).
5. Ways and means of assessing some of the data -not available.
6. How to complete survey forms for the annual education UNESCO Institute for
Statistics.
7. Applications on how to fill a questionnaire and funding statistics and
expenditures in the field of basic and general education and higher education,
both the governmental or private sector.
Concentrating on the following topics:
1. Education Statistics at various stages starting from early childhood to
higher education, theoretical framework and practical application.
2. International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED 97)
3. Culture and Communication Statistics.
4. Research and Development Statistics.
5. Science and technology statistics.
